This will be our 5th time taking a group to Costa Rica and each time is a different adventure. Group traveling is a great way to visit a new Country. We scout out all the places and give you an experience the way the locals travel. We’ve chosen the best hotels for the value, in the safest areas so you can travel with ease. No worries about getting lost in your rental car - because we take you everywhere. You can spend meals with the group or sneak away for a romantic dinner with your partner or break off with your friends. We have planned some group activities (that are included in your price) and left two days for you to choose your own excursions. We will help you plan this too, but not everyone is interested in the same adventures, so we leave a bit of flexibility.

Breakfasts and two lunches are included - all other meals will be separate - we have planned times for some of the meals if we are going into town, but once there you can choose where you want to eat - we will offer recommendations :) Prices for meals depend on where you eat and what you order, meal prices are similar to the US. The schedule provided on the previous page are the items we have scheduled - there will be some fluidity based on weather.

Recommended Flights - we have chosen specific flights and have arranged group travel to/from the airport based on these arrival & departure times. You can choose any airline you like, but if you want to be included in the Airport Pick-up and Drop-off please arrive/depart around these times. If your flights arrive earlier, we can arrange a trusted driver for you at an additional cost.

THE HOTELS

scroll through photos

Our first hotel is in downtown San Jose. We will be checking in late on Saturday evening. Get a good nights rest and meet for breakfast in the morning. We have stayed here multiple times and keep coming back! This building used to be a clothing factory and one of the first high-end dress shops in Costa Rica, you will see some of the original sewing machines and wall murals decorating the space!

Our second hotel is in the town of La Fortuna. This is one of our favorite towns to visit in Costa Rica. It is in the rainforest and the main attractions are the stunning views of the Arenal Volcano and visiting the natural hot springs. This hotel is a traditional colonial style, surrounded by lush gardens - we chose it specifically to give you a feel of old-world Costa Rica. The rooms are simple and comfortable, and each one has a private jacuzzi on the balcony. The property has a swim up pool, restaurant and spa on site. Randy's brother stayed here for his honeymoon!

The final hotel is in the beach town of Jaco. This is a more modern style hotel. Wake up overlooking the ocean right from your hotel window! This hotel has a pool on the beach, multiple on-site restaurants, a coffee shop, a swim up bar, a spa, nightclub, lounge & casino.

EXCURSIONS

We all enjoy different activities, so we have left one day at each location for you to choose your experience. Each one is an add on to your trip and priced based on the experience. You decide what you want to do and we will help you book it. You don’t have to add anything at all - you can simply enjoy these days on the property too!

FAQs

  • We are visiting in the Green Season and in a tropical country that has many microclimates - so, the rainforest will be a bit humid, the beach will be dry and the drive in-between could be on the cool side. In the areas we are staying, the temperature should hover 75-85 degrees. Because it’s the green season the vegetation will be beautiful and lush, but we may see rain mid-day.

  • Costa Rica uses Colones the exchange rate changes daily but is usually around 500 Colones to $1. We never exchange money when we travel to CR as everyone accepts (and likes) receiving dollars and almost everyone accepts credit cards. However, if you want to exchange money we can stop at a local bank once there, you can also use an ATM. Please let your credit card companies know you will be out of the country, so they don’t hold any purchases thinking it is fraud. They all have different fees for foreign purchases as well so it is best to know which card is right for you to use.

  • Please check with your cell phone provider to see if you will have service in Costa Rica. If your phone has International Capability there is usually a plan available for a small fee to be able to make calls, texts and data easily. Without a plan it can be quite costly, we suggest a quick phone call (611) to find out what is available to you. Look into international roaming charges as well. If your family and friends use WhatsApp your calls etc can be free if you are on the Wi Fi at the properties.  We will also create a group chat via WhatsApp so we can all communicate during our trip.

  • YES! Costa Rica is one of the few countries in Latin America where the water is safe to drink!

  • All the towns we are visiting have medical clinics with larger hospitals around an hour away.

  • It is one of the most stable countries in Latin America and is considered safe for tourists. But, as with any travel - be aware of your surroundings and use common sense.

  • We have a dedicated bus driver for our trip but be prepared for winding roads and high elevations. As we will be driving through the mountains. If you tend to get car sick, we recommend bringing something to help you. Traffic can vary - in the city during peak times it can be congested. Roads can be closed due to accidents making our travel time from place to place longer. So we adopt the Costa Rica mindset of Pura Vida - and just enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.

  • No, Costa Rica does not have any requirements.

  • You will need casual, comfortable clothing for everyday!!!  One of our excursions includes hiking so you will want to dress in comfortable clothes and bring walking/hiking shoes. You may want to bring nicer but casual outfits for dinner. It is known to rain in the afternoons, so keep this in mind when packing, maybe a light rain jacket if it does. Don’t go crazy and remember it is always best to pack light. Costa Rica has the same voltage as the US so adaptors will not be needed. Items to remember: Passport, Walking/Hiking Shoes, Swimsuit and cover-up, Casual clothing for hiking and excursions, Sunscreen, Water Bottle, Bug Spray, Hat, Personal Toiletries (the hotels have hairdryers), Phone, Phone Charger.
